Welcome 2017! A new year a new beginning!
It’s time for those new year resolutions!
While any time in the year is a good day to start, somehow the turn of a year makes us all want to better ourselves in some aspects of our lives. Apparently, about 90% of people fall of their resolution wagon within a few weeks.. Not a positive thought, isn’t it?
I guess we all get overwhelmed with a temporary enthusiasm, only to have it wane in the face of real life. So start small, and build new habits slowly! Want to exercise more after not doing anything for months? Start with a daily 10 minute walk at a convenient time, like after dinner, instead of forcing yourself to go to the gym every day. It’s the small habits that really work.
I’ve personally started running in October, and have been set back by a few weeks due to an injury, already! I guess I forgot to decrease the number of workouts, since I already do another team sport on 1-2 days a week… Not a good way to keep yourself motivated. So for this year, I’m going to take it more slowly.
I’m afraid my list of ‘resolutions’ (or goals for the year) is as cliché as most of our lists; lose some weight, get more organized, finally finish my study and find a job and save some money/pay of the study debt.
However, one of the few things that usually gets forgotten, is some fun goals. Some creative goals, so to say.
Spend x days a month doing something you love, or have an hour a day for yourself to do a craft, for example.
For me, it would be to create some more blog content, try out new crafts this year, and use up some of those untouched art supplies, because I thought I wasn’t ‘good enough’ to use them yet. (You
know the ones! The expensive paint you’ve gifted to yourself that sits in the back of a cabinet because you don’t want to waste it…) I’m so going to mess with some of my supplies this year
I invite you to do the same! Set some nice creative goals for yourself this year, whether that is to try hand lettering, or to finally finish the scrapbook you intended to start eons ago. Block of some time in your calendar, and go for it! And don’t forget to have some fun!
Back to other resolutions… The monthly theme for January will be ‘organizing and storing’ of craft materials. Since I absolutely suck at decluttering art
supplies, I’ve gotten very good at organizing (aka 3D Tetris ;) ). I’m going to share some ideas, and hope you can benefit from some of them!
On to the New Year!
